Antioch Townsville Missions Support Policy

To be considered for missionary support from Antioch, please review the policy below and submit the completed application.

  • As a church, we believe Jesus calls us to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). Our role is to send, support, and partner with missionaries who extend the Kingdom of God both locally and globally.

  • As Directors, we meet every 6 months to review missionary spending and sending, with the goal of 50% of the missions budget going towards monthly support, with the other 50% being for one-time donations.

    We prioritise supporting missionaries who:

    1. Belong to our church family: Members or long-term participants rooted in our community.

    2. Carry our values: Missionaries whose ministry aligns with the vision and theology of Antioch International.

    3. Are well-prepared: Those who have demonstrated spiritual maturity, calling, and have adequate training for cross-cultural ministry.

    4. Are accountable: Those willing to remain in relationship with our church and/or under the covering of another reputable missions organisation.

  • We recognise different pathways into missions and support accordingly:

    • Direct Church-Sent Missionaries: Individuals or families who are trained, commissioned and sent out under the pastoral and financial covering of Antioch.

    • Missionaries through Partner Agencies: Members who serve with other established mission organisations. We provide prayer, and pastoral covering if desired, while the agency provides logistics and field oversight. These individuals have the option to apply for financial support.

    • Partner Missionaries: Long or short-term missionaries not sent from our church but whose work we choose to support financially because of strategic partnership or shared vision. These individuals may or may not need to apply for financial support, depending on the decision of the Directors, and may never have visited Antioch Townsville. Any individual within the church can nominate somebody for partner missionary support.

    • Project-Based Support: Specific short-term initiatives that align with our mission priorities.

  • To be considered for support, a missionary must:

    • Be an active follower of Jesus with proven character and integrity.

    • Demonstrate a clear sense of God’s call to missions.

    • Have adequate training and preparation for ministry and cross-cultural work.

    • Be accountable either directly to Antioch or through another missions agency.

    • Provide regular communication and ministry updates to Antioch.

    • Present a realistic financial budget and plan.

  • Support may include:

    • Prayer Covering: Being sent out, plus regular intercession in church gatherings and Life Groups.

    • Financial Partnership: Monthly or one-time support by the church, and/ or individuals within the church.

    • Pastoral Care:  Ongoing relationship, encouragement, and care while on the field and during home assignments.

    • Practical Help: Assistance with logistics, housing, or transitions during furlough.

  • Missionaries supported by Antioch commit to:

    • Maintaining consistent communication.

    • Remaining accountable in spiritual, relational, and financial matters.

    • Seeking debrief and care when returning from the field.

    • Support will be reviewed every 6 months by the church leadership and/or missions team.

    • Continued support depends on ongoing alignment with church vision, accountability, and effective ministry engagement.
